Scientists discover elusive 'Angel Particles' are real
FREE Catholic Classes
Physicists have announced the discovery of the 'Angel Particle,' a subatomic particle that is both matter and anti-matter. The particles were theorized in 1937, and now strong evidence of their existence has been found. Angel particles could be used to make our computers run much faster.
We now know angel particles exist, thanks to new experiments in physics.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) -- The theorized angel particle has been discovered by physicists at Stanford University. Angel particles are a third form of matter made of both matter and anti-matter. Physicists have long explained that when the Big Bang occurred, matter and anti-matter were formed in nearly equal quantities. Any meeting between matter and anti-matter particles would result in both being annihilated and converted into energy.
Fortunately, the universe was created with four percent more matter than anti-matter, which means after virtually all of the anti-matter in the universe was destroyed, just enough matter was left over to create all the things we observe in the universe today, including all of the stars, planets, galaxies and so on.
But in 1937, an Italian physicist, Ettore Majorana suggested it would be possible for a particle that was made of both matter and anti-matter would exist. He dubbed these particles, 'fermions.'
Scientists looking for the particles called them by another name, 'angel particles,' after the book, "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown in which a man works to build a bomb using matter and anti-matter.
To find the particles, researchers developed an experiment that required the use of a powerful electrical current passed through a superconductor influenced by magnets. The experiment was such that it caused angel particles to arise from the superconductor.
These particles could be used to build quantum computers, which would be much faster and more powerful than the computers we use today.
