Hollywood actor, Kevin Sorbo expressed the need for pastors to do something to motivate their congregations and "wake them up to do something for America," in a recent appearance on the Church Boys podcast. Sorbo, who played an atheist professor in the film "God's Not Dead," explained that there are a low number of Christians who voted in the last two elections. He added that politics and religion cannot go on separated.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - "Seventy-five percent of Christians... didn't even vote in the last two elections. Well, you know what? You get the government you deserve. You've got to get out there. Pastors have got to wake their congregations up. You can't sit there and say that religion and politics shouldn't be mixed - of course they're mixed," explained Sorbo during the podcast.
The actor added that the United States is founded on Christianity, suggesting that the congregation must really put their best effort forward in political participation. According to The Blaze, only less than half of churchgoers participated in the 2012 elections.
Sorbo touched on his new project, "The Secret Handshake." During his interview on the podcast, he noted that the film discusses the importance of male models, in the form of a comedy. He also revealed details about the sequel of the hit "God's Not Dead," which is reportedly in the works already.
He shared that Pure Flix, the production company, abandoned the idea of bringing him back for the sequel and went on with a different plot.
"They were going to do a little bit of a 'Heaven Is for Real' type of thing... they actually bring me back to life and I went somewhere, someplace, somehow - and I was going to go on my own sort of soul searching mission in Israel," said Sorbo. However, that storyline was not pursued.
